The first half of the popular Express Entry system of Canada has been eventful in terms of issued invitations and regular draws despite the little interruption caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, the pandemic did not affect the frequency of regular express entry draws. Although, the most draws since the March 2020 were program specific, however, there was not any impact on the number of invitations issued by the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Express Entry Mid-year report 2020 Express entry holds the periodic draws for its below categories:
Since, March month, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has opened draws for the later two categories, i.e. CEC and Provincial Nominee Class. This is mainly to contain the outbreak of Covid-19. The CEC category candidate are those who already have Canadian work experience and are staying in Canada. On the other hand, the Provincial Nominee Program candidates are those who had low CRS score in express entry, but they applied in a PNP and earned 600 extra CRS points by getting nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program. Hence, if your CRS Score in express entry is low, you can also apply in a PNP to get nomination and enhance your point score. Subsequently, you will get Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply Canada PR visa from IRCC. Now, as the situation is gradually improving, the Canadian government is easing out the containment measures and we may soon see the regular FSW draws happening soon. If we look at the total number of invited candidates in the first half of the year, it is still way high compared to the past two years half-yearly invitations. CEC and PNP draws this year If you look at the statistics of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) category draws, you will find that both are inversely proportional to each other. The CRS score requirement is always low in the CEC category draws, while the number of invitations are always high. On the contrary, in the draws opened for PNP candidates, the CRS score requirement is always high as the candidates under this category have the 600 provincial nominee points already. However, the number of invitations are relatively low compare to the CEC category draws. The IRCC opens most of its draws under the regular FSW category and the experts are expecting the opening of the regular draws soon from IRCC. The small and big towers (of invitations issued) back to back as well as the zig-zag trend of CRS Score requirement shown below indicates the CEC and PNP category draws opened between March to June month. High Federal High Skilled Target for 2020 The target of Federal High Skilled category (FSW+FST+CEC) is relatively higher for this year, i.e. 91,800, compared to Provincial Nominee Program target of 67,800 and QSWP (25,250), etc. programs. This clearly indicates that Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada is likely to invite the significant number of candidates under the federal high skilled category. Get ready to apply Canada immigration in second half of 2020 With the statistics above in mind and looking at the easing temporary travel and other restrictions from the Canadian government, the second half of the 2020 is the best time to apply immigration to Canada.
