Should we expect further drop in CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score requirement from IRCC? Well, this is the question every express entry candidate has in mind at now. In the 2nd express entry draw of the year, launched by the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on 23rd January 2019, qualifying marks got reduced by six points, which has given some hope to the applicants to stay positive about the forthcoming draw.

Express Entry Draw trend in last few months

In the year 2018 the EE Draws had been a mixed bag, when it comes to EE draws. The CRS score requirement was neither very low like 2017, nor it was quiet high (close to 500 mark) like initial years of federal Express Entry System. In fact, it remained in 440s most the time throughout the last year. It was only in the month of December, when the cut off reduced below 440 mark by IRCC. In the Express Entry draw held on 19th December 2018, the qualifying marks first time drooped to its lowest of the year, i.e. 439 CRS points.

It again increased considerably in the 1st EE draw of the year to 449 points, which must not have pleased the applicants with relatively low point score for sure. Now, in last draw, IRCC has again made reduction in the required points, which have kept the hopes of the applicants high.

Will IRCC Consider dropping the cut off marks in forthcoming EE draws?

This year, IRCC has higher overall annual immigration target, i.e. 3,30,000 out of which about 81,400 will be invited via Express Entry system only. Hence, higher immigration target compared to last year might force IRCC to make reduction in the qualifying marks. The drop of cut off in just 2ndEE draw of the year also indicate towards the same. Although, reduction in the cut off is expected this year, however, it doesn't mean that you don't look out for the alternate options. You must explore and apply in the alternate immigration program of Canada to try and obtain the Invitation to Apply for Canadian PR. If needed, you may take the help of an expert to choose and apply in alternate programs.
