The key skilled occupations in Australia, i.e. Occupations of IT, Engineering, Accounts, and finance, etc. have reached their ceiling limit for allocation of new skilled visas for the year 2016-17. Most of the occupations under the mentioned categories have now been closed for the new applications until July 01, 2017.
Occupation Ceiling Limit met for IT & Engineering OccupationsThe government of Australia every year releases the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL). These lists contain the high demand occupations across various states and territories of Australia.
Occupations Reached the Occupation Ceiling Limit
However, each occupation listed in SOL or CSOL of Australia has a maximum limit (i.e. Occupation Ceiling Limit) of receiving applications for a particular year. The DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) doesn’t accept the skilled visa applications for a particular occupation, once its Occupation Ceiling Limit is reached.
Currently, most occupations under IT and Engineering category have reached the ceiling limit. In fact a few of them are oversubscribed. The key occupations which have met the ceiling limit are, engineering technologist, aeronautical engineer, environmental engineer, biomedical engineer, naval architect, network administrator, computer network and system engineer, network analyst, etc.
Hence, the people who want to apply for visa nominating these occupations will now have to wait till July, 2017, when the new migration program is going to open for the year 2017-18. In July, 2017, the government will release the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) with fresh quota of applications for every occupation included in these lists.
Status of Accounts and Finance Occupations
The Accounts and finance occupations, i.e. Occupation of Accountant and Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers are also about to reach the maximum limit. Although, few occupations mentioned above are showing few applications left, however, you must confirm the updated status of the occupation ceiling limit for these occupations as there is every chance of limit is met by now.
You may confirm the updated status of listed occupations in SOL or CSOL by sending a mail at email@example.com.
