Canadian Immigration Minister Announced Positive Immigration Changes for Indians in ISB meet at Chandigarh

The Immigration Minister of Canada John McCallum is on a week long visit to India. Laura Albanese (Immigration minister, Ontario) and Lena Metlege Diab (Immigration minister, Nova Scotia) are also accompanying John McCallum, in his visit to India. He had been in Punjab region most of the time during his visit.

John McCallum attended ISB meet at Mohali, Chandigarh

In a meeting held on November 9, 2016 at Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali, Chandigarh, he indicated few positive immigration changes to be implemented soon, which will specially benefit Indian Immigrants. The other key attendants in the meet were Laura Albanese (Immigration minister, Ontario) and Lena Metlege Diab (Immigration minister, Nova Scotia).

Here are the key Immigration changes announced during the ISB meet in India:
  • Immigration will be further increased
Canada already plans to welcome more than 300,000 immigrants in 2016. John McCallum has announced to further increase the immigration level in Canada to boost Canadian economy and growth.
  • Fast Application Processing for IT Sector
As per John McCallum, Canada will ensure the faster processing time for the applications received from highly skilled and talented individuals from IT or technology sector as a part of its Global Talent Strategy (GTS).
  • Additional Point to International Students
Canada sees great potential in International students to become key asset to Canadian economy. Hence, it plans to make it easier for them to get PR in Canada by the way of allocating them additional points in popular express entry system. As of now it becomes hard for them to get entry level job in view of LMIA requirement, however additional EE points will surely do good for their cause of getting PR in Canada.
  • Processing Time for family Reunification will be Reduced
