The Canadian provinces are way ahead of the Federal express entry system this year, in terms of launching periodic draws and invitation rounds to invite the candidates.

The different provinces of Canada have their own immigration programs, i.e. Provincial Nominee Programs, through which they invite, select and nominate the candidates for Canadian permanent residency. The Federal government allocate the annual nomination quota to each province as per which they nominate the selected candidates in a particular year.

PNPs are playing huge role in Canada immigration

Express entry system of Canada is worldwide popular online point based immigrant program and considered as the key source of immigration to Canada with its three main subcategories, i.e.
  • Federal Skilled Worker
  • Federal Skilled Trades
  • Canadian Experience Class
However, in last few months, Provincial nominee programs are really geared up in terms of launching frequent draws and invitation rounds for inviting the skilled and talented people from overseas.

Over 160 PNP draws in 2019

This year, Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) have launched over 160 draws under different immigration streams, while express entry just launched 17 draws this year.

The key Canadian PNPs, i.e. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, SINP, NSNP, AINP, MPNP, BCPNP, etc. have launched many draws this year under Express Entry and other key streams to invite the significant number of candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

Better PR option than Express Entry

In last few years, the provincial nominee programs have emerged as the best option to get permanent residency in Canada. The Provincial Nominee Programs basically have two types of immigration streams, i.e.
  • Express Entry linked stream
  • Non-express entry or base nomination stream
The express entry aligned streams of a PNPselect the applicants depending upon their CRS score and other key parameters. While base nomination stream often have different point system and eligibility criteria.

Low CRS Score required for PNPs

Express Entry system demands high point score or CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) Score. As per the latest express entry draw the Express Entry CRS score requirement from IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) was above 450 CRS points, while Express Entry aligned stream of many PNPs invite the candidates with low CRS score, i.e. much lower compared to express entry system.

For instance, this year, Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has invited the candidates with CRS score as low as 300 points in many of its draws. If you have low CRS score in express entry and hence, you are not getting invitation through express entry, you can apply in the most appropriate PNP- Express entry stream based on your profile. If you apply and get nomination through EE aligned stream of a Provincial Nominee Program, you will get 600 additional CRS points in your express entry account. This massive addition seal the Canada PR invitation for you from IRCC in the very next express entry draw.
