Canada Plans to allow More Immigrants in the next Immigration Target to be announced in November

The federal government is considering allowing more immigrants via its new immigration target going to be announced in November this year. As per the Immigration Minister Mr. John McCallum, people are insisting him to boost the number of immigrants in the country. The immigration minister has given the indications in the recent past as well about enhancing the number of immigrants, in view of ageing population and rising skill gaps in the country.

Canadians are insisting on more immigrants to Canada

Speaking to media John McCallum revealed the outcome of his cross-country consultation on the topic of Immigration to Canada. As per him, he has been receiving lots of suggestions and inputs from the hundreds of people across the country and almost all of them have supported that we should invite more immigrants in view of skill shortage or demographic reasons.

However, the government has kept its decision reserved until November, 2016, when the new immigration target will be announced.

Record Immigration target for 2016

Canada has already got record immigration target for the year 2016, as it plans to bring in close to 300,000 permanent residents in the present year only. Among the total immigration target in 2016, close to 160,000 will be economic immigrants, whereas, about 80,000 will be invited under family reunification. The federal government has designed Express entry system, QSWP and Provincial Nominee Programs for economic immigration in the country. There are also separate programs for family reunification, i.e. PGP, etc.

It will be interesting to see as to how the liberal government will plan immigration target for next year. As per the recent statements of Immigration Minister and federal government, the total number of immigrants is likely to be increased in next year immigration target.
