visas default image The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has announced key changes for the international students looking to enrol in the study programs in Canada for fall 2020 semester.

IRCC is offering some flexibility to the International students in terms of offering PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) to them. The ongoing Pandemic has affected the studies of the students and hence, many DLIs (Designated Learning Institutions) are offering the online courses.

What is PGWPP?

The PGWPP (Post Graduate Work Permit Program) allows the foreign students to gain Canadian work experience after finishing their study program at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.

All foreign students needs to complete a full-time program of minimum 8 months at a DLI to become eligible for the PGWP. Moreover, this study program must have resulted in a diploma, degree, or certificate. The final duration of the PGWP depends on the length of the student's study program in Canada.

International students not only make key contribution to the economy and jobs in the maple leaf country.

Moreover, the students from overseas are most often excellent contenders to apply for Canadian permanent residency to live permanently in Canada.

In the year 2018, approximately 54,000 former students become Canadian permanent residents.

PGWP Available for online Courses as well for Fall Semester

In view of the Pandemic situation, several designated learning institutions (DLIs) are offering online courses for key study programs.

Generally, the PGWP parameters restrict an international student's ability to complete a program through distance learning, from inside or outside Canada. In addition, the IRCC deduct the time spent studying outside Canada from the total period of the work permit for which they are entitled.

However, now the PGWPP eligibility will not get affected for those international students, whose fall 2020 courses of study will be online in view of COVID-19.

In such a situation, the students may start their classes while outside Canada and accomplish up to 50% of their program through distance learning if they are not able to come to Canada any time soon.

Moreover, no time will be deducted from the duration of a prospective post-graduation work permit for studies accomplished outside of Canada, up to December 31, 2020.

Hence, if you wish to study in Canada to get PGWP later, you may contact Education and Visa Advisor and Consultant at Visas Avenue for complete assistance. You may call on our Toll-Free No. 78-18-000-777 or can fill the Free Assessment form to get a call back from the expert.
