Australia has started a Review of its Skilled Migration Occupation Lists

Australian government has begun the review of its skilled migration occupation lists. The review will mainly focus on the occupation lists of the regional parts of the country. As per Ms. Michaelia Cash- the Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, department review of the skilled migration occupation list is being carried out to make certain that it is receptive to genuine skill needs and regional deviations across Australia.

Speaking about the newly commenced review Cash Said, "As a Government, our role is to ensure that Australian employers can access workers with the skills needed to fill the jobs of today and tomorrow when they can't be met by the domestic workforce,".

The ongoing review will assist the government to recognize and fill serious shortages in the skilled migration category. This new assessment will benefit the regional parts of Australia, which are finding it difficult to combat the ongoing skill shortage.

Speaking about Regional Migration, Mr. Coleman further added, "We've allocated 23,000 regional migration places, introduced two new regional visas and signed Designated Area Migration Agreements around the country to attract migrants to the regions, help towns grow and to fill some of the 60,000 job vacancies in regional Australia,".

The New point system of Australia will also allocate some additional points to the applicants who have nomination or sponsorship from regional Australia. The applicants nominated by a State or Territory government or sponsored by a family member residing in regional Australia, will get 15 points with effect from November 16, 2019.
