April 2020 Express Entry Draw- Will IRCC Continue to invite candidates with low CRS Score

Posted - 01, Apr 2020

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) has conveyed the a message in last couple of draws that it is not going hold back its periodic express entry draws or number of invitations being issued to the candidates, despite the whole row over the Covid-19 pandemic.

The last two draws, were for candidates under CEC class and with provincial nomination, hence, the applicants are now waiting for the FSW (Federal Skilled Worker) category draw desperately. Hence, the curiosity about the next EE draw result is even more among the candidates as well as the experts.

What the April Express Entry draw will bring?

Canada has invited 22,600 candidates this year in total seven express entry draws opened this year. The ongoing pandemic chaos hasn't effect the Canada immigration till now. As per the March 13, 2020 status of Express Entry pool, there are still more than 10,000 canddiates in the pool with CRS score 461 or above and few more must have enterered in the pool since than probably with similar rank.

This indicates, that CRS score is going to be 460 or above for at least next couple of draws. However, the CRS score requirement of 467 points in the last draw, must have given some ray of hope to the applicants, with regard to drop in the qualifying marks.

Express entry has immigration target of 91,800 for this year, hence, Canada will not compromise with the number of invites in the upcoming draws, which will possibly result in the drop in cut off, which will be a good sign for the Express entry candidates. Hence, as an applicant you need to stay positive about your chances. However, if your CRS score is quite low compared to the current demand, you must explore the alternate pathways, such as applying in the relevant PNP, getting the provincial nomination and hence, improving your existing CRS score in the EE system to get the Canada PR invitation.

How to raise your Express Entry CRS score to get ITA

The nomination for Canadian PR visa, obtained from a Canadian province through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) can help an applicant enhance his/her CRS score in express entry system.

The provincial nomination makes an applicant eligible to receive 600 additional CRS points, in express entry account and therefore, get the ITA (Invitation to apply) for Canada Permanent residency visa, from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) in the subsequent draw of federal express entry system.
