First ACT invitation round of 2022- Canberra issues 98 invitations to apply for Visa

Canberra held the latest ACT (Australian Capital Territory) invitation round on 11 January 2022 to issue 98 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) this time around. In this round, ACT issued invitations to apply for Subclass 190 visa and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491. This is the first Canberra Matrix Invitation round of 2022.

Here are the details of the latest ACT invitation round:

  • Small Business Owners- Small business owners received 5 ITAs this time around to apply for Subclass 190 visa only with a minimum matrix score requirement of 80 points.
  • 457 / 482 visa holders- These visa holders received 5 invitations to apply for Subclass 190 visa.
  • Critical Skill Occupations- Canberra as usual issued most number of ITAs to candidates with experience in Critical Skills Occupations.

Under Critical Skills category, 42 candidates received the invitations to apply for Subclass 190 visa with a matrix score of 100 points. Moreover, 46 candidates received invitation to apply for Subclass 491 visa with a minimum matrix score of 80 points or above.   

Remaining Allocation for 2021-2022

  • ACT 491 nomination: 639 places (pro rata 107 per month)
  • ACT 190 nomination: 303 p   laces (pro rata 51 per month)

ACT nomination

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA), Australia allows ACT (Australian Capital Territory) to nominate candidates for two types of skilled migration visas in the ACT:

  • Skilled Work Regional Visa (subclass 491) (provisional)
  • Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)

Hence, make certain that you:

  • Select the right visa for your situation.
  • Fulfil all of DHA eligibility criteria for that visa.

Before beginning the ACT nomination process, you require submitting a valid Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect. This is an online application process managed by the Department of Home Affairs. If you do not fulfil the Home Affairs Visa parameters, you cannot apply for ACT nomination.
