The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) started the New Year 2017 on a good note for the applicants by reducing qualifying marks significantly. The considerable reduction in qualifying marks led the number of Canadian PR invites to rise to a record level (2902). Hence, the expectations of the Canada immigration aspirants registered in the express entry system has increased drastically for the next EE Draw of the year, which is likely to launch in the mid of January.

Lets analyze the EE Draw results last time around to find out the trend to follow in coming draws of Express Entry System.

Analysis of draw trends so far

In last few months, IRCC has invited record number of candidates, except one express entry draw (on November 30, 2016), which was meant for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants. The year started well last year in terms of low qualifying marks for the candidates, however, soon the trend changed, when CRS Score requirement from IRCC started increasing rapidly with every draw.

List of complete Express Entry draws till date

Towards the last quarter of year 2016, the CRS requirement started decreasing and as a result, a significant rise was seen in the number of invitation for Canadian PR issued by IRCC. Hence, in short, the year 2016 was a mixed bag in terms of express entry draw results.

What are the expectations from upcoming express entry draws in 2017?

The individuals who are already registered in express entry and those who are planning to register have great expectations from express entry draws in the year 2017. Everyone is curious to know as to what trends Express Entry process follow in the New Year. However, those who are planning to move to Canada through express entry must remain positive for the 2017 express entry draws. The 2017 EE draws are likely to favor the Canada immigration applicants to a great extent for various reasons.

  • Economic Immigration and PNP Target increased for 2017: IRCC has increased the immigration target for economic immigration programs and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) as per their Immigration Level Plan 2017. Hence, a significant number of skilled workers and professionals are expected to immigrate to Canada this year compared to last year.
  • Key Changes in Point system: Canadian government has also made some key rule changes in the EE system that will ensure the positive draw results for the candidates. The points reduced for Canadian job offer will be a key factor to impact the EE draw results in 2017. The IRCC has reduced the CRS points for Canadian job offer from flat 600 CRS points to 50 or 200 points based on National Occupational Classification (NOC) job category. With reduced job offer points the CRS Score requirement from IRCC will not increase even if more number of candidates are there with job offer.
