The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has launched 25th express entry draw of this year to invite 559 candidates under Provincial Nominee class for permanent residency in Canada. The qualifying marks in the draw have been raised drastically as the draw is focused on Provincial Nominee candidates this time around. Let’s take a look at the key statistics of the draw.

25th Express Entry Draw of 2016

  • The 25th EE Draw is open from November 30, 2016 to December 1, 2016
  • The Qualifying marks or CRS Score requirement in the draw is 786 points or more
  • A total of 559 candidates under provincial nominee class will be invited for PR in the current EE Draw.

As the statistics looks a bit different this time around, let’s do a quick analysis of the facts, as to what else is different the 25th draw of express entry this year.

Qualifying Marks are higher than the Number of Invitations

Well, it may sound weird to an Express Entry applicant, however, that’s the way it is in the current EE Draw. The qualifying marks rocketed to 786 from 470 points in the last draw, whereas, the number of invitations hit the record low, i.e. 559 only. But the big time question here is why this has happened, while everyone was expecting the draw results to be in favor of the applicants? Let’s find out.

List of Express Entry Draws Canada 2015-16

Why draw results are unexpected?

As per the IRCC notification, in the present EE draw, provincial nominee class applicants have only been invited. It is justified as well, as the CRS Score requirement of 786 points can be achieved with provincial nomination in usual conditions. Hence, it’s quite obvious that CRS score requirement has been announced keeping in mind the PNP class applicants only.

We may see another draw for three major streams of Express Entry

The applicants with CRS Score around 460-470 points don’t need to get disheartened as we might see another draw soon for the below three categories of express entry:
  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program
  • Federal Skilled Trade (FST) Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

All the above categories have not been sent any PR invitations wide current draw of express entry, hence, we might see a separate draw announced for FSW, FST and Canadian Experience class, categories of express entry system.
