The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has finally launched the 16th Express Entry draw of this year. The candidates achieving the qualifying marks during the present draw will become eligible to get the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) from IRCC.

Let’s take a look at the key statistics of the present draw of federal express entry system.

Key features of 16th Express Entry Draw

  • Draw is open- The draw is open from June 28, 2017 to June 29, 2017.
  • Qualifying Marks- The qualifying marks or CRS score requirement from IRCC in this draw is 449 points or more.
  • of Invitations- In the present draw of express entry, a total of 3409 candidates will get invitation for Canada PR from IRCC

The draw was awaited for long

The last EE draw was launched on May 31, 2017 and since then the express entry applicants were eagerly waiting for the next draw of federal express entry system. However, it was not launched on scheduled date by IRCC. Usually, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) launched express entry draw every fortnight (every two weeks). Hence, as per this pattern express entry draw was expected to open on June 14, 2017, however it was not to be.

The draw was delayed in view of recent express entry changes implemented on June 6, 2017, i.e.
  • Additional CRS points for Sibling in Canada
  • Additional CRS points for proficiency in French Language
  • First registered profiles will get preference in ranking if minimum qualifying marks are same

In view of the above express entry changes, some ranking adjustments had to be made in the system. This is the reason that 16th express entry draw was launched after a delay.

Falling trend of the Express Entry Qualifying Marks

This year, IRCC has ensured falling trend in the qualifying marks (CRS score requirement). As a result, almost every express entry draw this year, created new record in terms of lowest ever qualifying marks and highest ever invites for Canadian Permanent Residency.

The key express entry changes last year and this year has also contributed to the increased number of invitations for Canada PR. With relaxed immigration requirements and reduced qualifying marks a huge number of applicants become eligible to receive Canada PR invitations from IRCC.
