Ontario PNP Occupation list in Demand – 2021

What is Ontario PNP?

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canadian province Ontario. It has been designed to select suitable individuals for permanent residency in order to meet the labour market demands of Ontario.

The OINP selects the applicants from Express Entry pool, who have skills and experience to make a valuable contribution to the economy and development of the province of Ontario. The OINP assess the received applications and accordingly nominate them to IRCC for Canadian permanent residency.

OINP Express Entry- HCP Stream

Although OINP has several streams, however, Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream of OINP is the most popular among the applicants of Canada PR. It has been designed for skilled workers, who are willing to live and work in Ontario on a permanent basis. The express entry – HCP stream OINP is aligned with the Express Entry System.

What is the eligibility requirement to apply in OINP- Express Entry Stream?

Find below the key requirement to apply OINP- Express Entry HCP stream:

  • To be eligible to apply in OINP Express Entry stream an applicant must have his/her profile registered in federal express entry system (& qualify for express entry pool).
  • He must choose an option of ‘Interested in moving to Ontario’ or ‘All Provinces and territories’ while creating an express entry profile
  • Received
  • The applicant needs to fulfil the basic criteria of Ontario’s Express Entry- HCP stream, i.e. education, skilled work experience, language ability, and other key parameters.

Ontario PNP occupation list 2021

Well, Ontario does not have any specific in-demand occupation list for the skilled workers to nominate the same. However, if your occupation reflects in the NOC (National Occupational Classification) at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of Canada, you can apply in the OINP.

Minimum CRS score Requirement to be decided by the Director for every OINP draw

As per the new initiative taken by Ontario, the candidates with work experience in any of the following ICT occupations or French language proficiency are eligible to receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from OINP, i.e. an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination), even if their CRS score is below 400 points. Hence, now, there is no minimum CRS score is required. The director for each Ontario PNP Draw will now decide the minimum CRS score.

Prioritized ICT Occupations 

The prioritized ICT occupations change for every targeted Tech draw of Ontario PNP held under its Express Entry- OINP- Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Stream. In the most recent draw, the targeted ICT occupations were as follows:

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

Eligible occupation

The position offered can be in any location in Ontario (inside and outside the Greater Toronto Area) and needs to be in one of the below occupations in National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level C or D:

  • NOC 3413 – nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
  • NOC 4412 – home support workers and related occupations, excluding housekeepers
  • NOC 7441 – residential and commercial installers and servicers
  • NOC 7511 – transport truck drivers
  • NOC 7521 – heavy equipment operators (except crane)
  • NOC 7611 – construction trades helpers and labourers
  • NOC 8431 – general farmworkers
  • NOC 8432 – nursery and greenhouse workers
  • NOC 8611 – harvesting labourers
  • NOC 9462 – industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

The position offered need to be outside the Greater Toronto Area  (City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York and Peel regions) and must be in one of the below  occupations in National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level C or D:

  • NOC 9411 – machine operators, mineral and metal processing
  • NOC 9416 – metalworking and forging machine operators
  • NOC 9417 – machining tool operators
  • NOC 9418 – other metal products machine operators
  • NOC 9421 – chemical plant machine operators
  • NOC 9422 – plastics processing machine operators
  • NOC 9437 – woodworking machine operators
  • NOC 9446 – industrial sewing machine operators
  • NOC 9461 – process control and machine operators, food, beverage and associated products processing
  • NOC 9523 – electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors and testers
  • NOC 9526 – mechanical assemblers and inspectors
  • NOC 9536 – industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators
  • NOC 9537 – other products assemblers, finishers and inspectors

Ontario PNP Processing Time 2021

The Processing Time of Ontario Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities stream is based on the processing time of most recent applications processed by Ontario PNP.  The applications received for Ontario Express Entry- HCP stream may take 60-90 days.

Note: The processing time varies based on the validity and accuracy of individual applications and documents. Some applications may take longer than estimated processing time if OINP is waiting for extra documents or for a reply of procedural fairness letter.
