The NLNP is the key Provincial Nominee Program of the province Newfoundland and Labrador. It operates in coordination with the federal government and nominates the skilled and talented individuals to IRCC for permanent residency in Canada. The candidates apply in NLPNP and if selected get the provincial nomination from Newfoundland and Labrador, which in turn makes them eligible for PR in Canada.

How does Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program Work?

The candidates willing to settle in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador can apply in NLPNP. Assess the requirements of the relevant NLPNP stream and find out if you are eligible to apply. You can apply in the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program in two steps, i.e.

  • Submit the complete application along with the key documents to NLNP. The application processing time can be up to 3 months or even more depending on the individual applications and verification status.
  • Once you receive the provincial nomination, apply for the PR visa to IRCC (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada).

Note: You need to apply for the PR Visa within six month of the receipt of nomination certificate from the province. IRCC will review your profile for health and medical certifications, document accuracy etc. and if everything is found fine, it will issue you the permanent residency visa.

What is Skilled Worker Category of NLPNP?  

It’s the key stream of NLPNP that has been designed for the skilled workers who have got the job offer from the province along with the required skills and experience to settle in the Newfoundland and Labrador. Candidates working and living on the temporary work permit in province can also be considered under this stream.

Who can apply under the Skilled Worker Category?

As just conveyed, the candidates having the full time job offer from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador can apply under this category. Apart from this, the candidates applying under this stream must have the appropriate work experience, qualification, training, and skills required for the occupation they have chosen.

Moreover, candidates also need to show the intention and capability to settle permanently in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The eligible candidate must also meet the language proficiency requirements in either English or French or both.

Is a person selected in NLPNP needs to permanently settle in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador

The candidates applying for the NLPNP need to show the intent to live and work permanently in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. They also provide the settlement plan regarding the same. However, Canadian law allows the Canadian Citizens and Permanent residents to settle anywhere in Canada. Hence, once you get the permanent residency status, you are free to live anywhere in Canada.
