Eligibility Criteria of Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)

Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is the popular immigration program of Nova Scotia, Canada. The candidates willing to immigrate to Nova Scotia, through NSNP can apply in any of the below NSNP streams, i.e.

  • Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry (Closed)
  • Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
  • Entrepreneur Stream

Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry (Closed)

The people applying under this stream must register a profile in federal express entry system. The candidates, who meet this stream's criteria, can apply directly to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). There are two sub-categories under Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, i.e.

  • Category A- Skilled Job Offer from Nova Scotia

Under this category, an applicant requires having an LMIA approved skilled job offer (in NOC- 0, A, B occupation) from Nova Scotia.

  • Category B- Skilled Work Experience of minimum one year

Under this category, candidates require having full-time skilled work experience of minimum one year or an equal amount in part-time in any of the targeted occupations in the new Nova Scotia Occupation List.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

As an applicant of Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry, you:

  • Must be having an overseas diploma, certificate, or credential with ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) by a recognized authority or a Canadian educational credential;
  • Require a full-time, work experience of at least one year in the last ten years in a NOC Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B occupation or equal amount of experience in part-time
  • Must fulfil the minimum language proficiency requirement, i.e. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in all four-language abilities (i.e. Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening) in either English or French Language. The Language test accepted to assess proficiency are:
    • IELTS (General Training Test only) for English;
    • CELPIP (General test only) for English; or
    • TEF for French.

An applicant must obtain a minimum 67 out of 100 points on a point grid based on his/her age, language ability, education, work experience, adaptability, and the skilled employment offer from a Nova Scotia-based employer (if applicable).

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry

This stream is for those candidates, who have worked at least one year under a Nova Scotia employer. Candidates applying under this stream must need to register in federal express entry system. The registered candidates can apply directly to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) to this stream.

Skilled Worker Stream

Under this stream, Nova Scotia employers hire those overseas workers and international graduates, who have skills and experience matching the shortage occupations in the province. The international students mostly apply under this stream. This stream has three main sub-categories, i.e.

  • Skilled Workers
  • Semi-Skilled Workers
  • Low-Skilled Workers

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

This stream is for recent graduates from Nova Scotia post-secondary institutions, who have already begun or purchased a business in the province. This stream is based on the Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

Entrepreneur Stream
